Ozark Community Tennis and Pickleball is offering a free pickleball clinic for ages 15 through adults and all skill levels from beginner to accomplished players on Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m. until noon at Steagall Park in Ozark. The clinic is open to all who live in the Wiregrass.

Join Fort Rucker and the Silver Wings Golf Course in celebrating the Army’s 247th Birthday with an 18-hole golf tournament on Saturday, June 11. The format is a four person team scramble with a minimum of 18 teams and a limit of 36 teams.

Behind the No. 1 defense and a pair of Craig Slocum interceptions, the White Team raced out to an early lead and dispatched the Cardinal Team, 31-10, in Troy’s annual T-Day Spring Game in The Vet.

The Daleville High School track and field team participated Friday, April 15, in the Wiregrass Invite held at Enterprise High School. Six other schools competed including Carroll, Dothan, Enterprise, Geneva County, Headland and Providence Christian.

The Daleville Lady Hawks fell behind quickly to Wicksburg on April 11 and eventually lost 16-0 after the Lady Panthers scored 11 runs in the top of the third inning and the game was called when Daleville failed to score in the bottom of the inning.

The Southeastern Conference announced on Thursday date changes for three football games scheduled for the 2022 season, including two shifting to Thursday night the opening week of the season.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ (ADCNR) Marine Resources Division (MRD) announces that Alabama state waters and federal waters will open to private and state-licensed charter vessel anglers for red snapper harvest on Friday, May 27.

Weather, navigation virtual seminar for boaters scheduled

NOAA and the National Weather Service will have a weather and navigation virtual seminar on Saturday, April 9, from 9-10:30 a.m. for boaters interested in safely navigating the waters and being prepared for hazardous weather.

The Daleville Warhawks opened the week on March 7 with a loss to Florala 22-2. The Wildcats scored four runs in the top of the first inning and nine more in the top of the second to begin the onslaught. The Warhawks scored a run in the bottom of the third and fourth innings to keep from being shutout.

The Daleville Lady Hawks lost a high scoring affair 17-11 to Cottonwood on March 7 when they gave up the lead in the fifth inning. The game was tied 5-5 when Cottonwood fired up the bats in the top of the fifth. Daleville plated two runs of its own in the bottom of the inning and four more in the bottom of the seventh but it was just too much for the Lady Hawks to overcome.

Daleville High School celebrated Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 8, with a parade, pep rally and football game. The evening was capped off with the crowning of the Homecoming Queen. The theme of this year’s Homecoming was “There’s No Place Like Homecoming” from the Wizard of Oz.
