Nic Duerst

Nic Duerst (7) slides under the tag of the Abbeville catcher to score in the first inning.

The Daleville Warhawks defeated Abbeville 23-7 in five innings March 24. The Warhawks scored seven runs in the first two innings and never looked back.

Bryan Beckwith led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk and stole second. Jesse Holtcamp reached base on an error by the catcher. Blake Moore hit a line drive to left field scoring Beckwith with Holtcamp advancing to second. Holtcamp then moved to third on a balk and Nic Duerst followed with a single to left centerfield scoring Holtcamp. After stealing second, Duerest scored before the end of the inning for the Warhawks to lead 4-2 at the end of the first.

Kristian McDonald got the win on the mound pitching the first 2 and one-third innings giving up six runs and four hits with four strikeouts. Ruben Garcia came on in relief and pitched the last 2 and two-thirds innings giving up one run on two hits and one strikeout.

Moore led at the plate going 4-for-5 scoring four runs, Beckwith went 3-for-5 scoring four runs, Duerst went 3-for-5 scoring three runs, Holtcamp went 1-for-4 scoring one run and Garcia went 1-for-4 scoring two runs.
