According to the Coffee County EMA office, minimal impacts are expected from Hurricane Ian. The storm is now a Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph and moving north at 12 mph. The track of the storm has shifted slightly to the east with the latest model run.
There is a 10 percent chance of tropical storm force winds in our area arriving sometime Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. While the forecast track has shifted slightly east, Ian's wind field is expected to expand, and potential impacts will be felt well away from the center in the tri-state area.
Forecast rainfall amounts 1-3 inches through early Saturday morning with most of the rain forecast for Friday. The rainfall forecast is track dependent. If the track shifts to the east, rainfall amounts will decrease. If there is any shift back to the west, there could be higher rainfall amounts.
