The Daleville Lady Hawks lost a high scoring affair 17-11 to Cottonwood on March 7 when they gave up the lead in the fifth inning. The game was tied 5-5 when Cottonwood fired up the bats in the top of the fifth. Daleville plated two runs of its own in the bottom of the inning and four more in the bottom of the seventh but it was just too much for the Lady Hawks to overcome.
Daleville started up its offense in the second inning when Katie Harry drove in a run off a single. Camry Carr followed with a single scoring two more runs before Haley Jones and Rosalee Lascano both singled to load the bases. Carr scored on a passed ball to make the score 4-0 in the bottom of the second before the inning was over.
Straw led off the bottom of the third with a triple then scored on a passed ball to put the Lady Hawks back up 5-4. The Lady Bears’ bats got hot as they garnered three doubles and five singles to score seven runs in the top of the fifth and go ahead 12-5. The Lady Bears scored five more runs in the last two innings to claim the win.
Alissa Haris pitched the first inning and gave up two hits with one strikeout. Lascano came out of the bullpen to pitch six innings giving up 17 runs on 21 hits with two strikeouts.
The Lady Hawks had 15 hits in the game and committed two errors. Straw led Daleville at the plate going 3-for-3 with a triple scoring four runs. Harry went 2-for-4 scoring two runs and 1 RBI, Camry Carr went 2-for-4 scoring one run with 3 RBIs, Kaleigh Carr went 2-for-4 scoring one run with 2 RBIs, Lascano went 2-for-5 scoring one run, Jones went 2-for-5 with a double and 2 RBIs and Tierra Minnefield went 1-for-2 with a double and scoring one run with 1 RBI.
