AHSAA

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) announced reclassification and region/area realignment for the 2022-2024 athletic seasons on Dec. 14.

Enterprise’s football region in Class 7A, Region 2, got even more brutal as Montgomery’s R.E. Lee High School is returning to the region along with Opelika High School jumping up from Class 6A. The new region is almost identical to the old Class 6A, Region 3 before the AHSAA expanded to seven classifications. It also means that each school will now have eight region games, meaning just two non-region games beginning next season. Region 2 will now include Enterprise, Auburn, Central-Phenix City, Dothan, Jeff Davis, Opelika, Prattville, R.E. Lee and Smiths Station.

Additionally, Class 7A, Area 3 in volleyball will expand by adding R.E. Lee but the rest remains the same with Enterprise, Dothan, Jeff Davis and Prattville as the other teams.

New Brockton and Daleville High School will remain in Class 3A and Region 2 in football, which will add Northside Methodist, Straughn and Pike County to the region joining New Brockton, Daleville, Houston Academy, Opp and Providence Christian.

New Brockton will remain in Area 3 in volleyball alongside Opp, Pike County and Straughn, while Daleville will be in Area 2 with Ashford, Houston Academy and Northside Methodist.

Elba High School is dropping back down to Class 1A – after two years in Class 2A – where they will join Region 2 in football alongside Brantley, Florala, Georgiana, Houston County, Kinston, McKenzie, Pleasant Home and Red Level.

Zion Chapel remains in Class 2A, Region 2 in football with Abbeville, Ariton, Cottonwood, Geneva County, GW Long, Samson and Wicksburg.

Eufaula High School is dropping down to Class 5A and will be in Region 2 in football alongside Carroll, Charles Henderson, Greenville, Headland and Rehobeth.

Realignment for winter and spring sports – including basketball and baseball – will be announced following the completion of those sports. The realignment maps can be viewed at https://www.ahsaa.com/Schools/2022-2024-Alignments.
