Daleville High School Warhawks

The Daleville Warhawks opened the week on March 7 with a loss to Florala 22-2. The Wildcats scored four runs in the top of the first inning and nine more in the top of the second to begin the onslaught. The Warhawks scored a run in the bottom of the third and fourth innings to keep from being shutout.

Omarion Pinckney got a walk in the third inning before Bryan Beckwith got a single on a line drive to right field. Jesse Holtcamp hit a ground ball and reached on an error to load the base. Blake Moore then walked to score Pinckney.

In the fourth inning, Nic Duerst started off the inning being hit by a pitch then Isaak Testerman reached on an error. Kristian McDonald then ground out to the shortstop but it scored Duerst.

Ruben Garcia started on the mound for Daleville pitching one inning giving up 9 runs on 3 hits with two strikeouts. Pinckney came on in relief and pitched the final three innings giving up 13 runs on six hits and three strikeouts.

Florala had 9 hits in the game and two errors while Daleville had one hit and eight errors.

Florala 11, Daleville 3

The second game of the series was a loss to Florala 11-3. The Wildcats scored seven runs in the top of the first inning and two more in the top of the second to take a commanding lead. The Warhawks scored a run in the bottom of the first inning and two more in the second but couldn’t muster any more offense.

Beckwith started off the first inning reaching base on a dropped third strike. He advanced to second and third on two wild pitches then scored on another wild pitch. In the second inning, McDonald started things off being hit by a pitch then with two outs, Beckwith and Holtcamp both drew a walk. McDonald and Beckwith both then scored on a wild pitch but that was all the scoring Daleville could find.

McDonald went the distance on the mound pitching all five innings giving up 11 runs on 10 hits with one strikeout.

Florala had 10 hits in the game and no errors while Daleville had no hits and two errors.

Wicksburg 20, Daleville 0

Two pitchers for Wicksburg combined to throw a no-hitter against Daleville as the Lady Panthers defeated the Warhawks 20-0 on March 10 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Garcia started on the rubber for the Warhawks pitching 2 and one-third innings giving up 13 runs and 12 hits with one strikeout. Trey Peters came out of the bullpen to pitch two-thirds of an inning and gave up six runs on four hits. Michael Hicks pitched one-third of an inning and gave up one run on one hit. Pinckney finished the game with no hits and no runs.

Wicksburg had 17 hits and no errors to no hits and four errors for Daleville.

Wicksburg 22, Daleville 1

Wicksburg came out with all guns firing in the first inning of the second game and plated 12 runs before Daleville even took a bat. The Panthers added six more runs in the second and four more in the third before the game was called. Daleville managed to get one run on the board in the first inning to avoid the shutout.

Holtcamp started off on the mound for Daleville pitching two-thirds of an inning and giving up 11 runs on eight hits. Pinckney came on in relief pitching one-third of an inning giving up seven runs on seven hits. Peters pitched the last two innings of the game giving up four runs on five hits.

Holtcamp led the Warhawks at the plate going 1-for-2 and scoring the lone run.

Wicksburg had 18 hits and three errors in the game while Daleville had one hit and no errors.
