Jeremy Barber (5) hauls in a catch against Northside Methodist.

The Daleville Warhawks fell to the Northside Methodist Knights in a non-region road game on Oct. 14 in Dothan’s Rip Hewes Stadium by a score of 48-6.

While the score was once again lopsided for the Warhawks, Daleville had its opportunities in the game.

“We had a good little stretch early in the game being able to get some stops on defense and being able to move the ball but we just couldn’t capitalize on some of the opportunities we had,” Daleville coach Will Garner said. “Then, we made a few mistakes at the end of the half and Northside jumped on them and took advantage of that. We didn’t make the plays we needed to and they did.”

The Daleville defense opened up by forcing a three-and-out and then quarterback Omarion Pinckney heaved a 41-yard pass to receiver Marcus Smith that put Daleville deep into Knight territory.

The Warhawks then turned the ball over on downs when Daleville received questionable spots on both third and fourth down where it seemed that Pinckney clearly crossed the line to gain on both plays.

Northside then made Daleville pay with a 76-yard touchdown run to take an early 7-0 lead. Daleville answered, though, as Pinckney found Jeremy Barber for a 16-yard pickup and then raced inside the Knight 10-yard line with a 36-yard run. Pinckney capped off the drive with a 3-yard touchdown run. The two-point try failed and Northside led 7-6.

Northside answered with a 10-yard touchdown run to extend its lead to 14-6 headed into the second quarter. In the second quarter, Daleville’s Rolando Roman and TJ Waller hit a Knight runner at the line-of-scrimmage on a fourth-and-short for a turnover on downs.

Daleville drove into Northside territory before being forced to punt again. The Knights scored again on a 35-yard pass to extend the lead to 21-6. The Warhawks then fumbled the ensuing kickoff and the Knights added a short touchdown run to extend that lead to 28-6.

After a Daleville three-and-out, Northside scored once again just before the half to take a 34-6 lead into halftime after a failed PAT.

Northside scored twice more in the second half with a running clock to capture the 48-6 win.

Daleville actually outgained Northside in the loss with 232 total yards compared to Northside’s 224 yards. The Warhawks were led by Pinckney with 77 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, while he also completed 4-of-9 passes for 82 yards. Smith rushed for 32 yards on five carries and also caught two passes for 57 yards.

Defensively, the Hawks were led by Caden Elmore with nine tackles and one tackle-for-loss, while Waller earned seven tackles. Roman also totaled five tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, a quarterback hurry and forced a fumble.
