The Daleville Warhawk baseball team lost the first game of a doubleheader 16-0 to Providence Christian on Thursday, March 17. Providence scored five runs in the first inning, six runs in the second and five more runs in the third before the game was called.
Jesse Holtcamp went the distance for the Warhawks on the mound giving up 16 runs on 15 hits with one strikeout.
Ruben Garcia had the lone hit at the plate for Daleville going 1-for-2.
Daleville committed one error to none for Providence.
In game two the Eagles picked up where they left off scoring two runs in the top of the first inning and six more in the top of the second. Daleville got on the board in the bottom of the third with two runs of their own.
The Warhawks started the inning off with three walks to Garcia, Bryan Beckwith and Holtcamp before Blake Moore hit a pop fly to the right fielder and Garcia scored. Nic Duerst then hit a single to right field and Beckwith scored.
Providence then added eight more runs in the top of the fourth and nine more in the top of the fifth to take a 25-2 win.
Garcia pitched a complete game for Daleville giving up 25 runs on 19 hits with five strikeouts.
Beckwith led the Warhawks at the plate going 1-for-2 scoring a run.
