Goal of Coffee County SROs is 'fostering positive partnerships'

A school resource office is a sworn law-enforcement officer with specialized training who works in a school setting. “There are now Coffee County Sheriff’s Deputy SROs in each school in the Coffee County system and one deputy in the Elba City Schools who have extensive training in working with school age youth fostering a positive partnership with support from the Coffee County Schools and the Coffee County Commission,” said Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton. “It takes a unique person to be an SRO,” Sutton said. “They do an outstanding job and I’m so proud of them.” From left, are Sutton, Deputy Adair Lee, serving New Brockton High School; Deputy Anthony Hattaway, serving Kinston School; Sgt. Stacey Austin, serving New Brockton Elementary School; Deputy Dale England, serving Elba City Schools; and Deputy Shawn Sawyer, serving Zion Chapel School.
