The New Brockton Gamecocks defeated Zion Chapel Friday, March 4, by a huge margin 15-1. The Gamecocks scored six runs in the first two innings and never looked back. They put the game away in six innings with 15 runs on 11 hits even though they committed four errors.

Payton Green led New Brockton on the mound pitching five innings and giving up 1 run on three hits while striking out 5. Brayson Carr came out of the bullpen to finish the last inning giving up 1 hit and had one strikeout.

Drew Cashin led the Gamecocks at the plate going 4-for-4 with 3 doubles, 3 RBIs and scoring 3 runs. Kaden Cupp went 3-for-3 with a home run and a double while earning 3 RBIs and scoring five runs. Jaxon Whitworth and Gabe Herrington each went 1-for-4 with an RBI each. Whitworth had a triple and Herrington had a double.

The Gamecocks had 11 hits to 4 for the Rebels.

Zion Chapel 8, New Brockton 6

New Brockton and Zion Chapel had a high scoring affair with the Rebels coming out on top 8-6 in 7 innings on March 3. Zion Chapel went on top 5-1 after five innings but New Brockton came back scoring two runs of its own to narrow the score to 5-3 after six innings. The Rebels scored three more runs in the top of the seventh and the Gamecocks scored three of their own in the bottom of the inning but it wasn’t enough.

Cupp started off on the rubber for New Brockton pitching 4 innings and giving up 5 runs on 3 hits while striking out 3. Hunter White came on in relief in the fifth inning and pitched one and two-thirds innings giving up 1 hit while striking out 3. Green pitched the final one and one-third innings giving up 3 runs on 1 hit while striking out 1.

Cashin led New Brockton at the plate going 2-for-3 with 1 RBI and scoring 1 run. Cupp went 1-for-4 with a triple scoring 1 run and had 1 RBI while Whitworth went 1-for-4 with a double scoring 1 run.

New Brockton had 6 hits in the game to Zion Chapel’s 5. New Brockton committed four errors to six errors for Zion Chapel.

New Brockton 17, Kinston 4

New Brockton defeated Kinston 17-4 on Monday, Feb 28 by blowing the game open in the top of the fourth inning scoring 10 runs to go ahead 12-1. Kinston scored three runs of its own in the bottom of the fifth inning but New Brockton put the lid on with a five run sixth inning.

Cashin led the Gamecocks on the mound pitching 4 and two-thirds innings giving up 4 runs and 1 hit but striking out 16. White came on in relief and finished the fifth inning with one strikeout. Whitworth pitched the last inning and had two strikeouts.

Green was the leader at the plate with a double and a triple in three at-bats scoring 2 runs and earning 3 RBIs. Cupp and McClenny both went 2-for-4 with McClenny hitting a double scoring 2 runs and 1 RBI. Cupp scored 4 runs and had 3 RBIs. Cashin went 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs.

New Brockton had 13 hits in the game to Kinston’s 1. The Gamecocks only committed 1 error while the Bulldogs had 7.
