Brady Richardson (16) pitched all five innings in the win over Charles Henderson on March 4.

The Enterprise High School baseball team started the week off right with a dramatic walk-off double in the late innings to seal a 6-5 victory over Andalusia on March 1.

Andalusia began the scoring in the top of the first with a run but the Cats came back scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the second. Brady Richardson started the Cats off at the plate with a double and Tristen Leib followed up with a single. Mason Chisum hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the first run for Enterprise then Jack Williams then singled to drive in another run and have the Cats up 2-1.

Andalusia then scored four more runs in the top of the third, fourth and sixth innings but Enterprise wasn’t done. The Cats scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth when Williams hit a first pitch for a single followed by a Drew Shiver triple and a Payton Easterling double with two outs to tie the game up at 5-5.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Chisum doubled on a line drive to left field to score a runner on second and the Cats pulled the win out.

Austin Acreman started on the mound for Enterprise and pitched 3-1/3 innings giving up 4 runs on 4 hits with 7 strikeouts. Easterling came out of the bullpen to pitch the last 3-2/3 innings giving up one run on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts.

Williams led Enterprise at the plate going 3-for-4 scoring one run and 1 RBI. Richardson was 2-for-3 with a double and scoring 1 run. Tysen Cole, Shiver, Leib and Chisum all went 1-for-3 with Shiver hitting a triple and Chisum with a double. Easterling went 1-for-4 with a double and 1 RBI.

Enterprise 12, Charles Henderson 2

The Wildcats followed up Tuesday’s game with a blow out win over Charles Henderson 12-2 on Thursday, March 3.

Enterprise opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first inning scoring 5 runs off a pair of singles and three walks in the inning. They continued the scoring barrage with a run in the bottom of the second, three runs in the bottom of the third and three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Charles Henderson managed to score two runs in the top of the third.

Brady Richardson pitched a complete 5 innings for the Wildcats giving up 2 runs on 1 hit and striking out 8.

Easterling and Shiver both went 2-for-2 at the plate with Shiver scoring 2 runs and 3 RBIs while Easterling earned 1 RBI. Will Powell went 1-for-3 scoring 1 run and 2 RBIs. Noah Loy went 1-for-4 scoring 2 runs.

Enterprise 10,

James Clemens 9

While the EHS boys basketball team was defeating James Clemens for the 7A state championship, the baseball team was handing the Jets a defeat on the mound with a 10-9 victory on Saturday, March 5 with another walk-off double.

The Wildcats took a commanding 5-0 lead in the first two innings of the game but James Clemens came roaring back scoring 7 runs in the top of the third, fourth and fifth innings. The Cats scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 8-7 but James Clemens plated two more runs in the top of the sixth to one-up Enterprise 9-8.

Enterprise scored another run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game up 9-9 then plated the winning run in the bottom of the eighth when Chisum once again doubled with two outs to drive in the final run and end the game 10-9.

Owen Burrow pitched the first 3 ½ innings for Enterprise giving up 5 runs on 7 hits. Kyle Hakel came in in relief and pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits. Powell pitched the next two innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits with 1 strikeout. Williams, CJ Wilkerson and Chisum finished the game out of the bullpen with no hits to seal the win for the Cats.

Several batters had a good day at the plate with Easterling going 1-for-4 with a homerun scoring 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Powell also went 3-for-5 with a double scoring 1 run and 1 RBI. Cole went 2-for-5 with 1 run and 1 RBI, Richardson went 2-for-4 with a double scoring 1 run and 2RBIs, Wilkerson went 2-for-4 with a double scoring 1 run and 2 RBIs, Shiver went 1-for-5 scoring a run while Loy went 1-for-4 with a double scoring 1 run.
