The Enterprise Lady Cats won the area championship April 13 with a 17-2 win over Jeff Davis. Georgia Lessmann helped secure the win with a four-hit game getting singles in the first, second and fourth innings while hitting a double in the fourth inning.
The Lady Cats broke the game open in the fourth inning scoring 11 runs. Besides Lessmann’s double, Savannah Mitten and Macy Robinette each hit a triple, Ane Blevins hit a double and Taylor Danford, Gracyn Snell, Skylar Frey and Emma Faulk each had a single.
Blevins was the winning pitcher for Enterprise throwing all four innings and giving up two runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
Lessmann went 4-for-4 scoring three runs and 2 RBIs, Robinette went 2-for-4 scoring three runs and 3 RBIs, Blevins went 2-for-3 scoring one run and 1 RBI, Frey went 2-for-3 scoring one run and 1 RBI and Danford went 1-for-3 scoreing two runs and 2 RBIs.
Enterprise had 14 hits and three errors in the game while Jeff Davis had three hits and six errors.
Dothan Diamond Classic
The Lady Cats participated in the Dothan Diamond Classic from April 12-16 and managed to make it to the consolation game but fell 4-2 to Houston Academy on April 16.
Enterprise had a 16-1 win over Geneva County to start the tournament and dropped the second game 9-7 to Wicksburg on Tuesday, April 12.
Tournament play resumed on Thursday, April 14 with an 11-0 loss to G.W. Long but Enterprise finished the day with a 4-1 win over Providence Christian.
The Lady Cats had a good run on Friday, April 15 opening with a 4-1 win over Cottonwood and an 18-1 win over Dale County.
Saturday, April 16, Enterprise started the day off with a loss to Brantley 2-1 but got in the consultation game against Houston Academy.
Houston Academy scored two runs in the top of the first inning to begin play but Enterprise tied things up with a run in the third inning and another one in the fifth inning. That was all the scoring the Lady Cats could muster and the Lady Raiders scored one run in the top of the six and seventh to win the consulation game.
Frey pitched a complete game for the Lady Cats giving up four runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Lessmann led Enterprise at the plate going 2-for-4 scoring one run. Robinette went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI and Hutto went 2-for-3.
Enterprise had seven hits and no errors in the game while Houston Academy had five hits and two errors.
Enterprise players named to the Dothan Diamond Classic All-Tournament Team included Kinley Hutto, Georgia Lessmann and Taylor Danford.
