The Coffee County Family Services Center on Brunson Street free income tax preparation program is ongoing, by appointment or drop off only. If you made $68,000 or less in 2020, you qualify; there is no income limit if you are over 65 years old. You will need to bring a picture ID for the taxpayer and spouse; W2s; Social Security Cards for the taxpayer, spouse and dependents; 1098 and 1099 forms; 1098T (education benefits); 1095 form (health insurance); bank account information; childcare provider’ s ID number and last year’s tax return. The Coffee County Education Retirees Association will NOT hold its March 16 meeting out of concern for members’ well-being due to the number of COVID-19 cases still present in the area. MARCH 17

The Republican Women of Coffee County will meet Wednesday, March 17, at 11 a.m., at the Enterprise Country Club. The guest speaker will be Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, who will be speaking on election issues. Social time begins at 11 a.m. with an optional $12 lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the program begins at approximately noon. Social distancing will be observed and temperatures will be taken before entering. Per Governor Ivey’s directive, masks should be worn except while eating. A ServSafe class is being offered on March 30 and 31 at the Geneva County Extension Office in Geneva. The class will begin at 10 a.m. each day. Anyone interested may contact Bridgette Brannon, Regional Extension Agent, at (334) 714-1248 or call the Geneva County Extension Office at (334) 684-2484. If you have access to register online you can go to www.aces.edu/go/ServSafe to register. The cost of the training is $140 and includes all materials and the test for certification.
