Lady Gamecocks

The New Brockton Lady Gamecocks capped off Spring Break with a dominating 11-5 win over Pike County on March 30 at home with three home runs.

With New Brockton leading 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Bailey Blackmon hit a two-run homer that also drove home Madison Meeks. On the very next at-bat Shelby Hobbs also drilled a home run to put New Brockton ahead 8-4.

In the bottom of the sixth, Hobbs drove Kinsley Owens home and then Hobbs scored on an error. Megan Eldridge then hit the third homer of the day for New Brockton put the Lady Gamecocks ahead for good 11-4.

Blackmon went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs in the win, while Hobbs went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Eldridge also went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. Harley Chinn, Owens, Meeks, Jordyn Thornton and Kennedy Hussey each scored one run.

McKenlie Jenkins picked up the ‘W’ in the circle pitching all seven innings with three strikeouts, while she also gave up eight hits and five runs. Just two of those runs were earned runs.

The Lady Gamecocks are back at on April 8 on the road against Pike County.
