The process of installing the new synthetic turf coming to Wildcat Stadium at Enterprise High School began last week and is expected to be completed in mid-May.
Enterprise Superintendent Greg Faught said that Sports Turf, the company handling the installation, is adamant that they believe they will be completed with the project before EHS holds its graduation in late May. Because of the lights in Wildcat Stadium it allows the construction crew to work into the night.
The Enterprise boys’ soccer team has two home games left this season – against Prattville on April 9 and Dothan on April 16 – and the girls have the April 13 home game against Dothan left. Those games will be played at Bates Memorial Stadium.
The new turf will feature AstroTurf’s Rhino Blend turf system, a Brock Powerbase YSR shock pad and BrockFILL. The Rhino Blend artificial turf system is a high quality two-fiber system that is meant to provide aesthetics and durability.
The shock pad features large drainage channels, shock-absorbing structures and 25mm thickness to improve player safety and provide more effective drainage, according to Sports Turf.
The BrockFILL is an alternative infill for the turf and is a wood infill, rather than the typical rubber infill that most synthetic turfs use. This wood infill is meant to decrease field temperatures and give a more natural feel to the playing surface with increased traction for footing.
“Enterprise High School has shown a great commitment to providing the best facilities to benefit their student-athletes,” Sports Turf President Todd Wiggins said in a statement. “The system we are installing at (EHS) while economical, when coupled with BrockFILL and the Brock Powerbase YSR shock pad makes it an incredible safe and high-quality playing surface.”
Sports Turf previously constructed the track and tennis courts at EHS.
