Hilary Morgan Andrews

A 2007 Enterprise High School graduate is dead after being shot by her husband before he turned the gun on himself.

Hilary Morgan Andrews was fatally shot in the chest with a rifle by husband and Fort Bragg paratrooper Seth Andrews at their Raeford, NC home Dec. 10.

According to the Hoke County Sheriff's Office, the communications center received a call at about midnight from the couple's neighbor.

When detectives arrived it was determined the incident was a murder-suicide, however further investigations are pending.

According to reports, her husband, a staff sergeant with the 82nd Airborne Division, had just returned home between Nov. 26-29 from deployment in Iraq, his third since his enlistment.

He was originally from Moberly, Mo. and joined the Army in 2005.

This is the fifth incident in the Fort Bragg area where soldiers have murdered their wives or committed murder-suicides. All five soldiers were sergeants. The rash of killings has been attributed by some to post-traumatic stress disorder.

According to a report from the National Council on Child Abuse and Family Violence, the base is currently re-evaluating the base's counseling programs.

Before this year, Fort Bragg had not experienced any deaths attributed to domestic abuse by Fort Bragg personnel in two years.

Meanwhile Hilary's Facebook page is filled with grievances of family and friends mourning her sudden and tragic death.

Friends describe her as a great friend who will truly be missed.

According to the Facebook page, a memorial has been organized for Hilary at 3 p.m., Jan. 14, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, 601 South Fourth Street, Leesville, La. 71446.
