The Daleville Board of Education passed the school system’s five-year capital plan at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 15.
Daleville Superintendent Dr. Lisa Stamps said that the projects for the school’s capital plan for the next five years is already fully funded, with much of the money coming from ESSER III funds.
The capital plan includes a new kitchen for Windham Elementary at the cost of $1 million that is expected to be completed by 2024. Also, the plan includes the replacement of old tile and carpet in areas of all three schools at a budgeted cost of $775,000. That project is expected to be completed in 2022.
The purchase of chrome books and carts for each classroom and other computers and upgraded software will be purchased at the cost of $100,000 in 2022. Also, new renovations in the locker room and weight room at the football field house will take place in 2022 at the cost of $80,000. These renovations will include new metal lockers to replace the current old wooden lockers in the field house. Also, new weights will be purchased for the weight room.
Additionally, a new roof will be constructed over the concrete slab at Daleville Middle School for an outdoor instructional space for academics or physical education classes. That project is also expected to be completed in 2022 at the cost of $120,000.
The final project on the capital plan is the addition of an outdoor dining space for the middle school. This project is expected to be completed in 2023 and will cost $40,000. The project will involve the construction of a new door off the dining hall with the construction of a roof and outdoor seating in the area outside.
The board also approved a trip requested from the JROTC program for October to the Junior Leadership Development Conference in Mobile.
