The Daleville Warhawks (0-5, 0-3) will travel to Class 2A’s GW Long Rebels (2-1) in Skipperville this Friday, Sept. 24.
The Warhawks are still searching for their first win of the season – and first on-the-field win since 2019 – and are coming off a 55-0 loss to Opp last week, while the Rebels are coming off their first loss of the season last week 27-21 to undefeated Ariton.
Long is coming into this matchup averaging 32 points per game, while Daleville has scored a total of just 52 points in five games. The Warhawks are also giving up 49 points per game, while the Rebel defense gives up 20 points per game.
Daleville’s triple-option style offense has been running to more and more stacked boxes in recent weeks and the Warhawks have tried to spread the offense a bit more to get the passing game going, which hasn’t worked thus far. Sophomore quarterback Omarion Pinckney has completed just 9-of-44 pass attempts for 150 yards and two touchdowns with one interception, but he has found some success on the ground with 97 carries for 520 yards and six touchdowns.
On defense, sophomore TJ Waller has managed to find himself in opposing backfields on a number of occasions totaling 15 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, one sack and a quarterback hurry along with blocking three PATs. Senior cornerback Amuary Gomez leads the Daleville defense with 19 tackles and one tackle-for-loss, while he’s also caught two passes for 44 yards and a touchdown on offense. Linebacker Caden Elmore has totaled 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss and 0.5 sack.
The Rebels from Skipperville are led by athletic quarterback Kobe Stringer who has thrown for 362 yards and two touchdowns so far this season and also rushed for 294 yards and six touchdowns.
