Capt. Derrek Mock, of Enterprise, has been named the incoming commander for the Alabama Army National Guard’s 231st Military Police Battalion. He received his commission from the University of Alabama as a second lieutenant on Aug. 6, 2011, and was assigned to HHT, 1-131st Cavalry Squadron in Enterprise,
His consecutive assignments include Squadron S6 (1-131st Cavalry Squadron), Communications Platoon Leader (Charlie Company ABN LRS, 1-131st Cavalry Squadron), Personnel Officer (122d Troop Command), Battalion S6 (231st MP Battalion), and Assistant S3 (231st MP Battalion).
He is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in history.
Capt. Mock is a graduate of the United States Army Basic Airborne Course, Signal Corps Basic Officer Leadership Course and is currently completing the final phase of the Military Police Captain Career Course.
His awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, Alabama Special Service Medal, and the Wisconsin National Guard Emergency Service Ribbon
Capt. Mock works full time as a police officer and traffic homicide investigator.
