Two officers “are no longer employed” with the Daleville Department of Public Safety and one has returned to duty following an internal investigation into allegations of the use of excessive force in connection with an occupant of the Daleville City Jail.
Daleville DPS Director Chief Allen Medley said March 10 that the investigation arose from allegations of the use of excessive force by DPS officers against a person who was in the Daleville City Jail March 1, following his arrest.
“The incident is still being reviewed by the State Bureau of Investigation,” Medley said. “Our internal affairs committee probed three officers, all of whom were placed on administrative leave while the investigation was in progress.
“With the closing of our investigation into this incident, two of the three officers are no longer employed with this department and one has returned to full duty.
“The names of the officers involved will not be released at this time because the State Bureau of Investigation has not closed this case,” Medley said, adding that no further information will be released at this time.
