A Geneva County woman is charged with murder in connection with a shooting death that occurred in Bellwood Monday, June 29.
Andrea Wambles is in Geneva County Jail after being arrested within hours of the shooting death of Danah Hudson Johnson, 40, of Bellwood.
Geneva County Sherriff Tony Helms said that at about 7:40 p.m. June 29, Emergency Medical Service personnel and sheriff 'sdeputies were dispatched to Craven Street in Bellwood about an unresponsive female lying in the road.
Helms said medical service personnel could find no pulse or vital signs on Johnson and all lifesaving procedures were ceased.
Johnson was noted as having gunshot wounds to the upper torso and the scene of the shooting was cordoned off as a crime scene.
Deputies and investigators began gathering information and from prior calls knew that the victim had been assaulted prior to this and had been in ongoing problems with Wambles, also of Bellwood.
At approximately 9 p.m. Wambles was taken into custody for questioning by sheriff’s office investigators, Helms said. “Shortly after investigators found the Wambles’ vehicle hidden in the woods nearby as well as a pistol.”
After being questioned by investigators and with consultation with Thirty Third Judicial District Attorney Kirke Adams, Wambles was charged with murder.
The investigation is continuing, Helms said.
