The Daleville Warhawks dropped a pair of games against Florala on the road on March 12.
Daleville lost the first game 10-6 before falling 6-4 in a down-to the-wire showdown in the second game.
In the first matchup, Daleville jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning when Jordan McDonald scored a run on an error, Blake Moore scored on a single from Bradley Durst and Durst scored on a passed ball.
Florala came storming back, however, with two runs in the bottom of the fist inning and four more in the bottom of the second inning to take a 6-4 lead.
Daleville cut the lead to 6-5 in the top of the third inning as Rueben Garcia scored on an error. Florala then stretched its lead to 9-5 in the bottom of the third inning.
Daleville cut the lead again to 9-6 in the top of the fourth inning before Florala stretched it back out to 10-6. The Warhawks weren’t able to reach home again and Florala held on to the win.
Bryan Beckwith, Garcia and Durst each earned one hit, while Parris scored two runs. McDonald, Durst and Garcia scored one run each. Durst also had an RBI.
McDonald pitched three innings on the mound and struck out three batters, while giving up seven hits and five runs. He also earned a double play.
In the second game, Florala scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the third inning to jump out to a quick 4-0 lead, but Daleville rallied in the top of the third inning. Beckwith belted a ground ball into right field and an error led Moore and Durst scoring to cut Florala’s lead to 4-2.
In the fourth inning, Testerman and McDonald both scored on a wild pitch to tie the game up 4-4.
The game remained knotted at 4-4 until the bottom of the sixth inning when Florala managed to score two runs on a ground ball into left field to secure a 6-4 win.
McDonald earned Daleville’s only hit of the game and also scored a run. McDonald pitched five and 2/3 innings and gave up six hits with six runs, while also striking out six batters.
