With college football crossing the midway point in the 2021 season a number of former Enterprise Wildcats continue to make their mark on the season.

Former Wildcat stars Josh McCray, Jared Smith, Marcus Jones and Chance Warren played big parts in their teams’ successes this past weekend. McCray was nearly unstoppable as he rushed for 142 yards on 24 carries in Illinois’ wild 20-18 win over No. 7-ranked Penn State in nine overtimes. According to ProFootballFocus, McCray broke an eye-popping 12 tackle attempts in the win, which was the second highest total in the entire country.

McCray’s high school teammate Jared Smith exploded for four catches, 113 yards and two touchdowns as he helped guide the FCS No. 6-ranked West Florida Argonauts in a 45-23 win over Shorter. Smith’s big day included a 74-yard touchdown grab in the win.

Navy’s Chance Warren rushed for 22 yards on five carries along with grabbing three catches for 29 yards and returning two punts for 16 yards in the Midshipmen’s 27-20 loss to the No. 2-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats.

Warren’s high school teammate Marcus Jones continued his stellar season returning two kickoffs for 121 yards and a 98-yard touchdown. He also recorded seven tackles and a pass breakup. Jones is currently fourth in the country in punt returns and tied for first in punt return touchdowns.
