The Enterprise High School boys golf team finished second at the Raider-Eagle Golf Challenge tournament at the Dothan Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, April 11 and 12. Fifteen teams competed with Auburn winning the championship shooting a best ball 201 and scramble score of 57 for 258 on Day 1 and a 296 in stroke play on Day 2 for a total of 554. Enterprise shot a best ball 210 and scramble score of 57 for 267 on Day 1 and 294 in stroke play on Day 2 for a total of 561.

Northridge-Tuscaloosa finished third with a 562, Fairhope fourth with a 569, Houston Academy “A” fifth with a 590, Bayside sixth with a 596, Trinity seventh with a 598, Tuscaloosa County eighth with a 600, Opp ninth with a 620, Montgomery Academy 10th with a 644, Westbrook Christian 11th with a 660, Daphne 12th with a 661, Houston Academy “B” 13th with a 672, Providence Christian 14th with a 684 and Northside Methodist 15th with a 695.

“I was very pleased with our second place finish at the Raider-Eagle Challenge. Auburn has a very good team as does Northridge and Fairhope, so to be second in that group is very good,” said golf coach Rex Bynum.

“We won the second day’s stroke play portion, so that was a big confidence boost for our team.  Jon Ed Steed fired an even par 70 to make the All-Tournament team. Nick Cook shot 73 with a triple bogey and Gibson Charlton shot 74 even with a couple of short putt misses,” said Bynum.  “Jackson Bailey fired a 77 after starting out bogey-double bogey. Hunter McCarty had a tale off two nines with 39 on the front but 45 on the back.  The team is peaking at the right time as the sectional tournament approaches.”

The sectional tournament will take place Monday, April 25 at Lakewood Golf Course in Phenix City.

The Enterprise boys JV golf team finished fifth out of nine teams at the Red Devil Invitational hosted by Central-Phenix City and played at Lakewood Golf Course on April 14.  The Auburn JV Blue team shot a 323, Auburn Blue team shot a 327, Smiths Station shot a 327, Auburn White shot a 328, EHS JV shot a 365, Prattville shot a 391, Auburn JV White shot a 405, Central-Phenix City shot a 424 and Valley shot a 529.

Parker Trawick led the JV with an 80, Dylan Trull shot a 93, Colton Tuttle and Harris Burg each shot a 96 and Christopher Rios shot a 102.

“The JV team played very well at Lakewood,” said Bynum. “I am so proud of all of them, but in particular, Parker Trawick.  This seventh grader plays a course he has never seen, from the varsity tees, and shoots an 80. The others played well, too, and they represented our school and community in the best way. The future is very bright for the boys golf program at EHS.”
