The Enterprise softball team blew through the Houston Academy tournament over the weekend, defeating the host team 13-2 to go 3-0 in tournament play on Saturday. The Lady Cats also defeated Auburn 5-4 and Charles Henderson 8-5.
Enterprise hosted the start of the area tournament on Tuesday past press deadline.
The Lady Cats scored five runs in the top of the first inning but the Lady Raiders plated two runs in the bottom of the inning despite having to play with eight players due to injuries. Those were all the runs HA could muster.
Emma Faulk had a monster game at the plate going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and scoring one run and 5 RBIs. Skylar Frey also had a big day with the bat going 3-for-3 scoring one run and 4 RBIs. Georgia Lessmann went 3-for-4 scoring three runs while Macy Robinette went 2-for-3 scoring two runs.
Gracyn Snell pitched a complete game giving up two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts.
Enterprise had 13 hits and one error in the game while Houston Academy had three hits and two errors.
Enterprise 8, Charles Henderson 5
The Lady Cats opened tournament play with an 8-5 win over Charles Henderson. The game was tied 5-5 before Enterprise pushed three runs across the plate in the bottom of the sixth to claim the victory.
Frey pitched a complete game giving up five runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
Lee Lott was perfect at the plate for the Lady Cats going 2-for-2 with a double scoring two runs and 2 RBIs. Taylor Danford went 2-for-3 scoring a run, Kinley Hutto went 2-for-4 scoring one run and 1 RBI, Ane Blevins went 1-for-3 with a double scoring a run and Faulk went 1-for-3 with a double and 1 RBI.
Enterprise had 12 hits and no errors in the game while Charles Henderson had six hits and one error.
Enterprise 5, Auburn 4
In the second game of the tournament, Enterprise stole the game in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring four runs and beat Auburn 5-4.
Faulk hit a double to score the winning run by Hutto who had singled in the prior bat.
Snell once again pitched a complete game giving up four runs on six hits with five striketouts.
Danford was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with a triple scoring two runs and 2 RBIs. Lessmann went 2-for-4 scoring one run, Hutto went 1-for-2 scoring one run and 1 RBI and Robinette went 1-for-4 scoring one run.
Enterprise had nine hits and no errors in the game while Auburn had six hits and one error.
The No. 1 seed Lady Cats faced No. 4 seed Jeff Davis at noon on Tuesday. The winner of that game would face the winner of the Dothan-Prattville matchup. The loser would face the loser of that game also. Results will be in next week’s Sun.
