McLin new DBOE president

A new president and vice president of the Daleville Board of Education were elected at the meeting May 18.

Ricky McLin is DBOE president and Lynn McWilliams is the DBOE vice president.

In other business, the board approved a bus request from the Boys & Girls Club of Daleville for two field trips during the summer month. The board approved a similar request from the Boys & Girls Club last summer, one field trip in June and one in July, Daleville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Stamps told the board.

The board also approved several personnel actions at the meeting:

Sierra Healy, Daleville High School, special education teacher;

LaTara Henderson, Daleville Middle School paraprofessional and bus driver;

Courtney Baril, Windham Elementary School first grade teacher;

Mariah Cantrell, WES second grade teacher;

Hannah Ballard, WES second grade teacher;

Evan Ballard, DHS health and driver’s education teacher;

Maternity leave:

Morgan Morris, WES third grade teacher;

Non-renewals:

Beth Brady, WES third grade teacher;

Kristin Jenkins, WES third grade teacher;

Abbey Bowers, WES kindergarten teacher;

Nicole Bledsoe, Daleville Middle School fifth grade ELA;

John Richardson, DMS eighth grade social studies teacher;

Transfers:

Rebecca Callahan, WES fifth grade teacher to math interventionist;

Timothy Waller, DHS girls’ basketball coach to boys’ basketball coach;

New hires:

Wendy Sammons, WES fourth grade teacher;

Ashley Smith, WES kindergarten teacher;

Sophia Castillo, WES special education teacher;

Payton Haws, WES second grade teacher;

Samantha Paul, WES kindergarten teacher;

The next meeting of the Daleville Board of Education is June 15 at 4:30 p.m. in the central office conference room. The meeting is open to the public.
