Ozark Community Tennis and Pickleball is offering a free pickleball clinic for ages 15 through adults and all skill levels from beginner to accomplished players on Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m. until noon at Steagall Park in Ozark. The clinic is open to all who live in the Wiregrass.
While clinics are often designed for beginners, there will be open play and challenge courts for experienced players to get in on the fun plus there will be a dinking competition. Dinking or soft game is a shot intended to go over the net landing very close to the net on the opponent’s side making it difficult to return.
Anyone can challenge Ozark’s Mayor Mark Blankenship, Police Chief Charles Ward and Councilwoman Leah Harlow who have been practicing and are up to challenge from any and everyone. A dollar gets you three balls—then may the best player win!
The concession stand will be open and offered by American Heritage Girls and Trail Life, a "Grazing Table" by DiFlippo’s will be provided for players and Honey Badger Pickleball of Montgomery will have pickleball T-shirts, headbands and other items on display and for sale.
The clinic officials are Tony and Abby Migliore of Montgomery. Both are sponsored players by Head Pickleball, with years of experience playing tournaments across the U.S. including qualifying and playing at the National Pickleball Championships in Indian Wells, Calif. They have won over 60 medals combined from these tournaments. They have instructed over a hundred people to play pickleball over their careers and held several demo days and clinics. Tony is a Pickleball Ambassador for the Montgomery area.
Elizabeth Wyse and Heidi Faulk, owners of Ozark Community Tennis and Pickleball invite the public. A headcount is needed to prepare for the clinic so pre-registration is required. Sign up at ozarkcommunitytennis.com to save a spot.
