Enterprise High School announced recently that assistant boys basketball coach Alan Catrett has been promoted as the head girls coach at EHS.

Catrett, who spent the 2020-2021 season as an assistant on the boys varsity team, will take over for former Lady Cat coach George Scott – who departed from the school – as the new head girls’ coach.

“I just felt like it was a good opportunity for me,” Catrett said of being named the new Lady Cat coach. “I’m very excited about the opportunity I have to coach the girls.”

Before coming to Enterprise, Catrett had previously served as head boys coach at Red Level for 10 years as well as girls head and junior varsity coach at Red Level for a number of years. He also previously served as head middle school basketball coach at Andalusia, where he grew up.

While Catrett was busy with the boys team last season he did say he got a chance to see the young Lady Cats some and was impressed with what he saw.

“I saw them play a little bit last year,” Catrett said. “I didn’t get to watch them a whole lot but I got to see them the last four days (at tryouts) and they’ve done a great job. I thought tryouts went really well.”

Catrett said the main thing for his Lady Cats will be just simply working hard in the offseason.

“I think the main thing is we want to get (in the gym) and try to increase our skill level,” Catrett said. “We have to increase our skill level; we have to do that this off season to get us prepared for the season next year.”
