Female found dead in Dale County identified

Jenita Rose Maldonado

A woman found dead in the woods off of South County Road 20, near Newton in Dale County, June 3 has been identified.

Dale County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Mason Bynum said June 9 that through dental records the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences positively identified the deceased as 29 year old Jenita Rose Maldonado of Montgomery.

Bynum said that Maldonado had ties to the Wiregrass area and was believed to have been residing in the area. “Based on our investigation we do not believe foul play was involved but if you have any information on Maldonado or her possible whereabouts within the last 3 weeks please contact us,” Bynum said.

“We would like to thank the Seminole County, Ga., and Elmore County Sheriff’s Offices’ for their assistance in this investigation,” he added.
