Both the Enterprise Lady Cats and New Brockton Lady Gamecocks finished as runner-up in their area tournaments last week and advance to the state tournament later this week.

In the Class 3A, Area 4 Tournament New Brockton knocked off Pike County 13-3 in the semifinals before falling to Opp 11-0 in the Area Championship.

Against Pike County, Jordyn Thornton led New Brockton at the plate going 2-for-4 with three runs, while Madison Meeks went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Bailey Blackmon also went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Lizzy Everts went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a run, while Kennedy Hussey, McKenlie Jerkins and Megan Eldridge each earned two hits.

Kierstin Sunday had two runs, while Hussey, Jerkins and Shelby Hobbs had one run each.

Jerkins pitched all five innings and struck out six batters, while giving up six hits and just one run.

Things were a bit tougher against Opp but Everts led New Brockton at the plate going 3-for-4 with a run. Thornton also went 2-for-3 with a run. Hussey, Hobbs and Eldrige had one hit each, while Blackmon, Meeks and Edridge each scored a run.

Blackmon also had a double play on the defensive end, while she pitched two and 2/3 innings with one strikeout, and gave up six hits and three runs.

Harley Chinn pitched two and 1/3 inning and gave up six hits and six runs. Hobbs pitched one inning and gave up no hits or runs.

Enterprise beat Prattville in the Class 7A, Area 3 semifinals by a score of 7-2 and then lost to Dothan in the finals by a score of 6-3.

Kyleigh Coin led Enterprise at the plate against Prattville going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Taylor Danford and Ella Little each had one hit and Georgia Lessman scored two runs. Macy Robinette also scored two runs, while Little and Katie Valentine scored one run each.

Savannah Mitten earned a double play on defense. Skylar Frey pitched all seven innings and struck out six batters, while giving up nine hits and two runs including a homer.

Coin went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a home run and and a run against Dothan, while Lessman went 2-for-4 and Danford went 2-for-4 with a run. Emma Faulk and Kinley Hutto had one hit each.

Coin also pitched 5 and 2/3 innings and struck out seven batters, while giving up eight hits and four runs with a homer. Frey also pitched an inning and gave up two hits and two runs.
