Enterprise High School will play host to this year’s Coffee/Dale/Geneva County Special Olympics on Friday, April 6.

This year’s Special Olympics will kick off with a Torch Run at 8:30 a.m. on April 6 from the Boll Weevil Monument in downtown Enterprise and will end inside the EHS gym.

The torch will be passed down the route by representatives from the Enterprise Police, Fire and Rescue Departments along with a member of the 2-12th from Fort Rucker and a representative from the State Police Department.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. inside the EHS gym.

More than 150 athletes are expected to compete in this year’s Special Olympics in various events including softball, tennis, shot put, standing and long jumps, track and field races and wheelchair races.

One motor wheelchair event will take place inside the gym, while the rest of the events will take place outside. In the case of inclement weather, all events will be moved inside.

Any organization that would like to support an athlete or the community should contact Special Olympics Area Director Warren Brown at or Volunteer Coordinator Amy Graf at
