Leonard “Lenny” E. Sherwood, Sr., 66, of Pomaria, S.C., passed away on May 23, 2022, at White Oak Manor, Newberry, S.C.
Graveside funeral services and inurnment will be held at 2 p.m. EST on June 24, at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, S.C., with Whitaker Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Sherwood was born Sept. 21, 1955, in Worcester, Mass. to the late Oliver Ray and Jane Anderson Sherwood. He served in the United States Army for 21 years as a Flight Medic, deploying in support of Desert Storm/Desert Shield. He retired from “Flatiron” on Fort Rucker, then moved to West Columbia, S.C., where he worked as a Paramedic in the surrounding cities. Lenny loved NASCAR, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and his grandkids.
Lenny is survived by his son, Leonard E. Sherwood, II (Brandy) of Hartford; his daughter, Cristy Shimunek (Russ) of New Brockton; grandchildren Ayden, Charlotte, and Sarah Belle; sisters, Sandra Bond (Donnie) of Taylors, S.C., Vanessa White (Norman) of Pelion, S.C., Rebecca Stollstorff of Lexington, S.C., and Michelle Cormier of West Columbia, S.C. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Randy Sherwood.
