Providence Christian ran away with an early lead against the Daleville Lady Warhawk softball team Thursday, May 4, scoring nine runs in the first two innings.

The Lady Hawks tried a comeback of sorts crossing the plate three times in the top of the third inning but Providence scored two more runs in the bottom of the inning and took an insurmountable lead of 11-3. The Lady Eagles tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to win 15-3.

The loss was the second for the Lady Warhawks in the area tournament which is a double elimination event. They finished the season with a 2-22 overall record, 0-10 in 3A Area 3 play.

Tierra Minnefield led the Lady Hawk at the plate going 1 for 3. She was followed by Alissa Haris, Kinley Sykes and Katie Harry all going 1 for 2. The team suffered four errors in the game.

Haris went the distance pitching four innings and giving up 14 hits, 15 runs including two home runs, and one strikeout.

Slocomb 12, Daleville 1

Daleville opened the 3A Area 3 softball tournament with a 12-1 loss to the Slocomb Lady Red Tops. Slocomb jumped on top in the first two innings scoring five runs then added on seven more in the bottom of the fourth. Daleville managed to cross the plate once in the top of the fifth before the game was called.

Harry led the Lady Hawks at the plate going 2 for 2 followed by Sykes going 1 for 1 and Nevaeh Pettway going 2 for 1. The team was once again doomed with errors recording seven in the contest.

Haris pitched all four innings giving up 10 hits and 12 runs while striking out three.
