Skylar Frey threw a complete game for Enterprise on Thursday, March 10, and the Lady Cats shut out Opp 4-0.
The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when Enterprise scored 2 runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-0 lead. Emma Faulk led off the inning reaching base after an error by the second baseman on her fly ball. Ella Little then doubled on a line drive to right field to score Faulk and the Lady Cats were on the board. With two outs, Georgia Lessman singled on a line drive to left field and Little scored.
In the top of the sixth, Frey singled followed by a Taylor Danford single which advanced Frey to third base. Danford then scored on a passed ball before the inning was over and the Lady Cats led 3-0.
Gracyn Snell started off the top of the seventh with a walk before Lessman singled on a ground ball to the pitcher to advance Snell to second. Macy Robinette hit a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners for the first out of the inning. Kinley Hutto ground out to the second baseman to score Snell from third and the Lady Cats ended the inning and the game 4-0.
Frey gave up 8 hits but Opp had six strikeouts and scored no runs.
Lessman went 2-for-4 at the plate with 1 RBI. Danford and Little each went 1-for-3 and each scored a run. Little had a double and 1 RBI. Snell went 1-for-2 scoring 1 run. Frey went 1-for-3.
Enterprise 13, Ashford 5
The Lady Cats started the Terry Collins Memorial Softball Tournament in Dothan with a win Saturday, March 12, over Ashford 13-5.
Ashford started the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning but Enterprise came roaring back with seven runs of their own in the bottom of the first and the Lady Yellow Jackets couldn’t recover in the loss.
The Lady Cats started the game off with two singles and a walk before Danford came to the plate and hit a home run to right field to put the Lady Cats ahead 4-1. Faulk hit a pop fly and reached on an error, Mitten walked then Little doubled to score drive two runs in. Snell then singled to score Little and the inning ended with Enterprise up 7-1.
The Lady Cats plated another run in the bottom of the second on a double by Robinette followed by a single by Hutto to take the score to 8-1.
Ashford scored a run in the top of the third but Enterprise followe with five more runs in the bottom of the third. Three singles and two errors by the Lady Yellow Jackets contributed to the scoring. Ashford scored three more runs in the top of the fourth but it wasn’t enough to overcome the huge lead Enterprise had.
Snell pitched all four innings for the Lady Cats giving up five runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
Robinette and Little led the Lady Cats at the plate going 2-for-2 with both having a double. Robinette scored three runs with 2 RBIs while Little scored two runs with 2 RBIs. Danford went 2-for-3 scoring one run with 5 RBIs. Snell and Lessman each went 1-for-2. Lessman scored two runs while Snell scored one run with 1 RBI.
Enterprise 9, Dale County 5
The Lady Cats earned a win in the second game of the tournamet March 12, over Dale County 9-5. Dale County started the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first but Enterprise scored a run of its own in the top of the third before their bats came alive and the Lady Cats scored eight runs in the top of the fifth.
Lessman started the fifth with a single on a hard ground ball to center field followed by a single from Robinette on a hard ground ball to the second baseman. Hutto got a single of her own on a hard ground ball to the shortstop and the bases were loaded. Frey then connected for a double on a fly ball to center scoring Lessman and Robinette. Danford followed up with a double of her own to right field and Hutto and Frey scored. Falk singled, Savannah Mitten singled, Snell and Lessman doubled and the Lady Cats had put the game out of reach.
Jamie Jackson pitched a compete game for Enterprise going five innings and giving up 5 runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts.
Robinette led the Lady Cats at the plate going 3-for-4 scoring one run and 1 RBI. Frey, Danford, Snell and Mitten each went 2-for-3 scoring one run. Danford and Frey had 2 RBIs each and a double each while Mitten had 1 RBI. Snell had a double and scored 2 runs and 1 RBI. Lessman went 2-for-4 with a double and one run scored with 2 RBIs.
Enterprise had 15 hits on the day to Dale County’s 11. The Lady Warriors committed three errors to the Lady Cats one.
Houston Academy 4, Enterprise 0
Houston Academy took down Enterprise in the third game of the tournament 4-0 on March 12, as the Raiders pitcher threw a no-hitter.
Houston Academy scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and one more in the bottom of the third to outscore the Lady Cats. Enterprise could get nothing going at the plate.
Frey started on the mound for Enterprise and pitched all four innings giving up four runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
The Lady Cats also committed four errors in the game to none for the Lady Raiders.
