Daleville's District Honor Band performers recognized

Eleven Daleville High School band students recently earned a spot in the Alabama Bandmasters District VIII Honor Band. The students met for about 10 hours and gave a concert in the Wiregrass. Students from 13 counties auditioned and were selected to rehearse and perform a concert. The Honor Band took place at Enterprise High School and was conducted by Dr. William Peterson, Director of Bands at the University of South Alabama. To earn a position in this band, the students had to perform a live audition, made up scales, prepared music and performed a sight reading piece. “We are proud of their individual accomplishments and look forward for what musical endeavors they will seek out in the future,” said DHS Band Director Mark Nichols. DHS students participating, from left, in front, are Trey Peters and Aubrey Lints. In the middle row, from left, are Gabrielle Scott, Kayla Smith, Francisco Hernandez and Grace Smith. In back, from left, are Jacob Chambers, Austin Horne, Nizaiah Demmings, Chase Horne and Kyle Flanders.
