Austin Acreman

Austin Acreman pitched a complete game against Central to open the area tournament.

Enterprise traveled to Central-Phenix City last weekend for the first round of the area tournament and fell to the Red Devils 4-2 in game one and 7-3 in game two.

“I thought we had a very successful season that saw us win some big games throughout the year,” said head coach Matt Whitton. “The schedule setup prepared us for what we would see in the playoffs and I thought our kids handled it very well. Our schedule saw us take on two defending state champions as well as several teams that played in the semifinals a year ago.

“We finished the year as the area runner up behind Prattville, who finished the year with a 28-5 record, which included a loss to us. As you look back over the year, we saw a lot of growth with our entire roster and we look forward to what the future holds for the next year.”

In the second game, the Cats fell behind early with Central scoring four runs in the first two innings. Enterprise plated three runs in the bottom of the third to pull within one run but that was all the scoring the Cats could manage. Central put the game away with three more runs over the next three innings.

Owen Burrow started the game on the mound for Enterprise pitching one inning and gave up two runs on five hits. He was relieved by Kyle Hakel who pitched one inning and gave up two more runs on three hits with one strikeout. Brady Richardson then came out of the bullpen to pitch three and two-thirds innings and gave up three runs on three hits with three strikeouts. Will Powell closed out the game pitching one and one-third innings with one strikeout.

Drew Shiver led the Cats at the plate going 1-for-2 with a double and 3 RBIs. Tysen Cole and Noah Loy each went 1-for-3 scoring a run while Richardson went 1-for-3 and Tal Sessions went 1-for2.

Enterprise had five hits in the game and one error while Central had 11 hits and no errors.

Central 4, Enterprise 2

In the first game, Central came out of the gate scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning but Enterprise tied things up with two runs in the top of the third before the Red Devils plated two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and held the Cats scoreless the rest of the game to claim a 4-2 win.

Austin Acreman pitched a complete game for Enterprise giving up four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.

Shiver once again led the Cats at the plate going 2-for-2 scoring one run. Cole went 1-for-4 and scored the other run for Enterprise.

The Cats had nine hits in the game and no errors while Central had eight hits and no errors.
