Each Nov. 11, Americans come together to honor our nation’s heroes. This year, I had the honor of speaking at Veterans Day events in Prattville and Wetumpka to thank our many veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice. With both Army Fort Rucker and Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, our district benefits from having a high veteran population. As someone fortunate enough to have served our nation in the National Guard, I take a special pride in the number of veteran constituents I serve in Congress.
Speaking of Maxwell, we recently welcomed home the 908th Airlift Wing after the largest deployment in the history of the wing. We owe our airmen and all those who have served our gratitude.
Alabamians are continuing to voice their concerns with vaccine mandates. I hear you, and I stand with you.

Thanksgiving 2021 is expected to be the most expensive meal in the history of the holiday thanks to rising inflation, our broken supply chain, and our ongoing economic, energy, and labor crises. Turkey alone is up 27 percent from last year, but everything from fryer oil to pie tins to vegetables has increased in price.
Not only that, but American families will pay an additional charge just to get to Thanksgiving dinner. Due to the Biden administration’s harmful energy policies, Americans will pay $1.30 more per gallon at the pump this Thanksgiving. More Americans travel to visit friends and family during Thanksgiving than any time during the year, and it’s unfortunate that these added costs will hurt American families during the holiday season.

On Nov. 5, just before midnight, Speaker Pelosi finally forced through President Biden’s $1.2 trillion “infrastructure” bill. Almost any bill of such massive size will include some money towards worthy programs, but this monstrosity is overwhelmingly a poor use of taxpayer dollars. Only about 10 percent of this bill will go to roads and bridges, and most of the other 90 percent of the bill goes toward the Democrats’ radical progressive wish list. It even includes $200 million for a San Francisco Park in Pelosi’s district!
But that’s not all. As part of the deal Pelosi orchestrated to get the bill passed, the House also greased the wheels for President Biden’s radical reconciliation bill, the true centerpiece of the Democrats’ tax-and-spend scheme. A vote for the infrastructure bill by itself would be bad enough, but when attached to the socialist reconciliation bill, it is even worse.
I continue to stand against both these proposals. We need real investment in infrastructure, but we should never surrender our nation to socialism to get it.

American citizens should not be forced to choose between taking a vaccine and providing for their families. The decision to get a vaccine should be made by the American people with the help of their doctor, not Joe Biden.
I am proud to be one of the strongest and most consistent voices in Washington amplifying the American people’s opposition to vaccine mandates, and I will continue to do all I can to fight against them and to protect your freedoms.
