At the April 13 Enterprise City Schools Board of Education meeting, the school board recognized the teacher, student and support person of the month from Harrand Creek Elementary and Holly Hill Elementary schools.
Sixth grader Jennifer Lopez Perez was announced as the student of the month, while interventionist Emily Harrison was the teacher of the month and nurse Jennifer Rae was named the support person of the month at Harrand Creek Elementary.
According to Harrand Creek Principal Ronnie Retherford, Perez “is a great role model for her peers, both inside and outside the classroom. She is not just a good student academically but a good citizen.”
Harrison began her career with Enterprise City Schools as a second grade teacher and has been the reading coach for the last several years. “Her interaction with everyone in the building is always very positive and cohesive. I don’t know anyone in the building who cannot get along with her,” said Retherford.
Rae is the nurse at Harrand Creek and began working at the school after the school year started. “She’s probably answered a thousand questions since the beginning of the school year from students and parents but she’s always done it in a very courteous and professional manner,” said Retherford. “It’s been a blessing to have her with us.”
Martin Francisco Miguel was announced as the student of the month, second grade teacher Sara Richburg as the teacher of the month and child nutrition worker Jackie Jerrell as the support person of the month at Holly Hill Elementary.
When sixth grader Miguel started school at the age of 5, he did not speak English. “He has worked super hard and ended up testing out of ESL services with the highest score you could ask for,” Principal Christie Mitten said. “He works hard and perserveres like no other. He is responsible, he is ambitious, he helps take care of his brothers and sisters at home, he has a lot of responsibility and does it with a smile and is so humble to everyone he meets.”
Richburg is in her seventh year of teaching at Holly Hill. “She goes above and beyond, not just for her students but for the entire school,” said Mitten. “We’re so lucky and blessed to have her as a part of Enterprise City Schools.”
Jerrell is in her 45th year at Holly Hill in the lunchroom. She will be retiring at the end of the year. “She puts her heart and soul into the hallways for our kids, our teachers, and we are so blessed to have her at Holly Hill,” Mitten said.
