Good Samaritan Helping Hands will be collecting water and non-perishable items at 708 South Main Street to send to states that were affected by Hurricane Ida from Oct. 9-21. States that were affected are Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. For more information, call (334) 477-3816.

OCT. 12

The Coffee County Education Retirees Association will meet Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Coffee County Farm Center in New Brockton. All meetings this year will begin at 10 a.m. with no lunch being offered. There will however be snacks for the members. The program will be presented by Cornelius Burrows who will share his musical talents with the group. Don’t forget to bring pop tops, school supplies and canned goods. OCT. 14

The Above the Best Silver Chapter of the U.S. Army Warrant Officers Association will be holding its in-person monthly meeting at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, at Swartworth Hall on Fort Rucker.  A meal will be served. Please observe Fort Rucker COVID protocols. This meeting is open to all warrant officers or those interested in warrant officer issues.

OCT. 15

A fall cleanup will be held in the city of Level Plains Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Oct. 16 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Four dumpsters will be available by city hall for customers of the Level Plains Water Department only. A recent water bill must be shown in order to be allowed to use the city dumpster on those days.

OCT. 28

The next meeting for the DAV Wiregrass Chapter 99 will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. in the New Brockton Senior Center. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish. Festivities will be closing out the summer season and welcoming in the holiday season. All active duty military and veterans are invited. The Enterprise Senior Citizens Center is for anyone 60 years of age or older. Art classes are offered every Tuesday from 8 until 10 a.m., and 10 a.m. until noon. Sewing classes are held on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until noon. Chair exercise classes are held on Thursdays beginning at 10 a.m. Classes meet at 2401 Neil Metcalf Road (U.S. Highway 167 North).
