Ozark Police Chief Charles Ward introduced the department’s newest officer, Kala the K-9, during a press conference held at the department May 12. Ward thanked Tim and Johnnie Watson from Hometown Lenders for their help in defraying the cost to the OPD for K-9 Kala’s purchase and training. The four-legged officer is a 16 month old Belgian Malinois certified with the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association to do drug narcotics and tracking. OPD Cpl. Dustin Folk is Kala’s handler. “She will be utilized to help assist in reducing drug crimes in the City of Ozark,” Ward said. From, left are Ward, Folk, K9 Kala and Johnnie and Tim Watson.
