Who started the first Daleville library? What was Daleville’s football team originally called? Where was Daleville Baptist Church originally located?
Those were some of the questions for those participating in the Family Fun Walk or Ride Scavenger Hunt Saturday, July 24. The questions were printed on a map given to each of the participants directing them on a trail through the historic section of Daleville, to include South Daleville Avenue, Warhawk Drive, Donnell Boulevard and Culpepper Street.
The fundraising event for the Daleville Public Library Foundation, Inc. began and ended at the library on Donnell Boulevard in Daleville.
The Daleville Public Library Foundation was incorporated as a 501(c)3 public charity in 2015. “We work to raise funds and provide resources for the Daleville Public Library and to promote literacy and education,” said DPL Director and Library Foundation Board member Kathryn C. Brown. “We have donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Daleville, the Daleville High School Band and provided funds and materials for Chopper's Ol' School BBQ's Thanksgiving Food Kitchen and the local food banks around the holidays.”
Food and family-friendly activities were available on the library grounds after the walk.
“Today was our first fundraiser and we would like to thank you and everyone that came out and participated for making it such a success,” she added.
