An educator with more than 20 years of experience in the the Enterprise schools has been named principal of Windham Elementary School.
Carrie Heninger was named WES principal at the Daleville Board of Education meeting July 28.
Heninger has a master's degree in collaborative education K-sixth grades and an Instructional Leadership Certification. She is a National Board Certified Teacher.
Heninger began her career as a special education aide for Special Projects Pre-K in the Enterprise City Schools. She worked there also as a technology coach, a high school ACCESS facilitator, a history teacher and most recently been an instructional partner at Coppinville Junior High School in Enterprise. Heninger has initiated some innovative programs in schools such as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program and a house system modeled after the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Ga., said Daleville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Stamps. “We are excited to have Mrs. Heninger here with us. I think she’s going to do a great job for our elementary school,” she added.
Heninger and her husband Jay have two daughters, Jules and Mary.
In other business, Stamps told the board that she and other area school superintendents met with the commanding general at Fort Rucker to discuss mask mandate plans. She said she will meet with the DCS principals Aug. 5 to discuss the most current Center of Disease Control mandates at that time. “We are watching it daily and will talk about it more at the Aug. 18 DBOE meeting.”
In unrelated business the DBOE approved the request of the Daleville Chamber of Commerce to use the front lawn of Daleville High School Dec. 4, the day of the city’s Christmas Parade.

Abbey Bedsole, WES teacher.
The next meeting of the Daleville Board of Education is Aug. 18 at 4:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
