Getting as many people possible exposed to the many job opportunities available in the area was the reason for the Daleville Area Chamber of Commerce’s first job fair held July 23 at the Daleville Cultural and Convention Center.
Chamber Director Michelle Powell said that with the stringent COVID-19 mandates lifting, the chamber felt that organizing this fair was a service the chamber could provide to the community. “A lot of our businesses have open positons and they are not able to fill,” Powell said. “After the pandemic when businesses re-opened some of them were not able to operate at capacity because there were not enough employees.”
Powell said that as she reached out to surrounding area chambers, she realized that their communities were having the same problem. Powell said that some of the chamber’s member businesses could not spare the manpower to actually be present at the day long event but they provided lists of jobs available at their locations. The Enterprise Chamber of Commerce also provided Powell with a list of job opportunities in the Enterprise area. Both lists were available at the job fair.
The fair was held from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and was free and open to the public. “Job seekers of all levels and fields were highly encourage to attend and participate because both part-time and full-time positions were available,” Powell said.
Powell credits the partnership with Robert’s Auto Service, SpectraCare Health System and Medical Center Enterprise and sponsors McDonalds, Tinkertown-USA and Express Employment Professionals of Dothan for the success of the job fair.
