The Enterprise boys soccer team traveled to Foley to play in the Southern Shootout last week and came away with a 2-1 record finishing in the runner up spot.

The Cats were placed in the Boys Showcase bracket with Davidson, Thompson and defending state champion Spain Park.

They opened the tournament on Thursday, Feb. 10 with a win over Thompson 4-3. The Warriors scored the first two goals to go ahead 2-0 but the Cats came back with Mateo Lorenzo scoring the first goal at the 36:00 mark of the first half to cut Thompson’s lead to 2-1 at the half.

The second half began with Drew Suter scoring the second goal for the Cats to tie things up at 2-2 at the 1:45 mark. Thompson then scored the next goal to go ahead 3-2 at the 5:35 mark but Minjae Kim would score at the 12:00 minute mark and Suter would put the Cats ahead for good, scoring a goal at the 27:00 minute mark to finish with a 4-3 win.

Goalkeeper Jonah Sidanycz had six saves on goal.

In the second match, the Cats fell to Davidson 5-1. The lone goal scored for Enterprise was by Suter.

The final match of the tournament on Friday, Feb. 11, saw Enterprise defeat Spain Park 2-1. Kim scored the first goal of the match for the Cats to go ahead 1-0 at the 25:00 minute mark of the first half. Spain Park then scored at the 5:00 minute mark on a penalty kick to tie things up going into the half. In the second half, Diego Sammur scored on a free kick at the 27:00 minute mark for the final score of 2-1.Sidanycz had two saves on goal.

The Enterprise girls team traveled to Montgomery to play in the Capital of Dreams Tournament and also finished as runner up.

The Lady Cats were placed in the Girls Varsity Gold bracket with Chelsea, Montgomery Catholic and Pike Road. They opened the tournament Friday, Feb. 11, with a 4-1 win over Pike Road. Evelyn Holmes-Smith scored the first goal 3:21 minutes into the match followed by Brooke Parker at the 4:46 mark. Pike Road would score at the 10:03 mark to go into the half trailing the Lady Cats 2-1.

Enterprise would open the second half with a goal on a free kick by Anna Kim at the 6:49 mark and seal the win with a goal by Kaylee Richardson at the 22:04 mark. Goalkeeper Taylor Waters had 2 saves and allowed only 1 goal.

In the second game the Lady Cats defeated Montgomery Catholic 4-2. The Lady Knights opened the scoring at the 2:15 mark but Enterprise’s Arianne Siegel tied it up with a goal at the 7:20 mark. Catholic then went ahead with a goal at the 18:15 mark but Enterprise tied it up once again on a goal by Kim at the 21:33 mark.

The second half saw the Lady Cats shutout Catholic, scoring a goal at the 3:12 mark by Holmes-Smith and another goal by Siegel at the 10:40 mark on a free kick. Waters had 4 saves as well as 6 saves by Lizzy Joreski.

Enterprise went to the championship round on the last day and fell to Chelsea by a score of 3-1. Richardson had the lone goal for the Lady Cats at the 9:48 mark of the first half. Waters had 5 saves.
