South Alabama’s Branden Donovan was selected in the seventh round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals on June 5. Donovan was an All-American for Enterprise before becoming a star at South Alabama.

Brendan Donovan was a superstar for Enterprise High and then South Alabama, and now he will get his opportunity to become a superstar in Major League Baseball.

The St. Louis Cardinals drafted Donovan in the seventh round, 213 overall, of the 2018 MLB Draft on June 5.

The versatile former Wildcat played third base, shortstop and outfield during his South Alabama career and was selected as a third baseman by the Cardinals.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 195-pound Donovan batted .302 with 55 RBIs and five home runs in the 2018 season.

Donovan was a second-team All-Sun Belt selection in 2018 and was Sun Belt Tournament MVP in 2017.

Donovan was a Louisville Slugger All-American in his senior season at Enterprise in 2015 and earned Class 7A first-team All-State honors.
