Adam Godwin

Enterprise native Adam Godwin was named as one of the new Troy head baseball coach Skylar Meade’s assistant coaches on Aug. 13.

Godwin moves to an on-field role at Troy after two years as the director of player performance and development for the Trojans. During his time as the director of player development, Godwin was responsible for coordinating practices and game technology concepts. He was also responsible for assisting the athletics development office in its fundraising efforts for the baseball program. He was a key player in the planning and development of the design of the upgrades at Troy’s Riddle-Pace Field.

Godwin was a star baseball player at Enterprise High School and went on to become an all-conference player at Enterprise State Community College before heading to Troy, where he earned 2005 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year and All-American honors.

Following his successful college career, Godwin was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft and played 15 years at various levels of minor league baseball, including an all-star season in 2008. Even after Tommy John surgery in 2009, Godwin earned all-star honors again in 2012.

Following his playing career, Godwin served as a first base, third base, base-running and outfield coach in the minors before returning to Troy.

“Adam was an all-world player at Troy and has hit the ground running on the recruiting trail, which is always the lifeline of any great program,” Meade said.

Former Virginia assistant coach Joe Bialkoski will take over as director of player development and analysis, while former South Carolina staffer Gavin Pence takes over as director of baseball operations.

Former Western Kentucky assistant coach Ben Wolgamot will serve as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, while former Michigan State pitcher Riley McCauley will also serve as an assistant coach. McCauley was the pitcher at Michigan State when Meade was the pitching coach there.

“I could not be more excited about the staff we have put together as we have compiled a group of hungry, hard-working and connected individuals,” Meade said. “I want to thank the Troy administration for their support in allowing me to put together the staff we felt will build the best relationships possible with our players now and in the future.”
