The Enterprise 8U All-Stars captured the 8U Rookie State Championship last week in Oxford and are now on their way to the 8U Rookie World Series later this month.

Enterprise captured the championship after knocking off Troy in best of three series for the state championship on June 23. Enterprise played eight games in five days and earned 92 hits as a team during the tournament. They gave up just 30 runs in those eight games and scored 91 runs.

“They really played well,” Enterprise coach Steven Bryant said. “They got tired towards the end there but gave it everything they could and hung on to win. They never gave up even if things went bad and just kept on pressing through.”

Enterprise’s Cade O’Brien and Brandt Harper led the way at the plate. O’Brien boasted a .550 batting average in the tournament, while Harper earned a .538 batting average.

Enterprise will now head to Texarcana, Ark., July 22-25, to compete in the Dixie 8U Rookie World Series.

“I just want to see our guys continue playing as a team and lifting each other up as we always do and continue the fundamentals of baseball,” Bryant said.

Bryant said that the Enterprise 8U Rookies have sponsorship packages available to help fund the team’s trip to the World Series. Those interested in being a sponsor can do so by contacting Bryant at (334) 494-3138.
