Enterprise High School freshman Jace Himes recently competed at the Gulf Coast Martial Arts Championship in Crestview, Fla., and came away as the grand champion in two different divisions.

Himes – a 15-year-old Enterprise native – has been training in karate at Grand Master Eldrige Conley’s Keichu Do Academy in Enterprise for 10 years and is a first-degree black belt.

At the 2021 Gulf Coast Martial Arts Tournament he competed in forms, weapons and fighting. Himes earned first place in weapons, first place in form and second place in fighting. He was also the grand champion of the 14-17 black belt division in both forms and weapons.
