Shelby Hobbs (10) and the Lady Gamecocks played Zion Chapel on the road last week.

The New Brockton Lady Gamecocks (0-2) hit the road to face off against county rival Zion Chapel Lady Rebels on Aug. 25 but ended up falling 3-1 in the varsity matchup.

New Brockton lost the first two sets 25-22 and 25-20 but came back to win the third set 25-23. The Lady Rebels secured the win, however, by winning 25-20 in the fourth set.

New Brockton was led by Justie Ellis with 19 aces and 26 assists, while Jaylin Vera had nine kills and 13 digs. Anna Clark chipped in with eight kills and five blocks. Shelby Hobbs contributed 12 aces, five blocks and eight kills.

The JV Lady Gamecocks also lost 2-0 with Zion Chapel winning both sets 25-17 and 25-13. The junior high team picked up a 2-1 win, though. New Brockton won the first set 25-20, lost the second set 25-22 and finished off the match wit ha 15-9 win in the third set.
