A livestock judging workshop is schedule for Saturday, May 21, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Coffee County Farm Center. This workshop is hosted by the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service. Learn the correct names of body parts and the terminology used to describe the physical attributes of livestock; how to form a systematic approach to evaluate different species of livestock; how to organize your thoughts and record your observations on paper for later use in preparing reasoning arguments in defense of class placings for individual animals; how to give oral reasons to best describe individuals in a class by using pair comparisons; how to make accurate, decisive and quick decisions; and how to give statements to justify your class placings. The Coffee County Extension Service is hosting a “Basics of Vegetable Gardening” series for four weeks along with Enterprise State Community College beginning Tuesday, May 24, from 6-7 p.m. in the ESCC Student Center Community Room. The Coffee County Cooperative Extension Service will host a workshop to cover the fundamentals related to starting a farm on Wednesday, May 25, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Enterprise State Community College in the Multipurpose Room. A sponsored dinner will be served. Topics will include lending options, livestock requirements, required documentation and resource for farming assistance. The German Coffee Club will meet Thursday, May 26 at The Landing on Fort Rucker at 9:30 a.m. We are playing bingo this month. The Enterprise Senior Citizens Center is for anyone 60 years of age or older. There is no fee to participate in the senior center program but donations are welcomed. Art classes are offered every Tuesday from 9 until 11 a.m., and 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Also every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:45-9:45 a.m., a Senior Aerobics class is available. Sewing classes are held on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until noon. Chair exercise classes are held on Thursdays beginning at 10 a.m. Classes meet at 2401 Neil Metcalf Road (U.S. Highway 167 North). “The Stories Behind the Stars” initiative was created to organize one central digital location to collect the stories of all Americans who were killed during World War II. These personal stories will be digitally linked to war memorials and cemeteries by a smartphone app so visitors can read the stories of the fallen. Work is currently being done on all of the Alabama WWII soldiers. The first Saturday of every month the Weevil City Cruisers will have a cruise-in at Milky Moos from 5-8 p.m.
